Kirstin Dunst in Anime Princess Costume

February 25, 2010

I was happy to discover Kristen Dunst dressed as an anime-styled magical princess in a music video that was filmed in Electric Town, Akihabara, Tokyo late last year. The short film was featured at London’s Tate Modern for the “Pop Life: Art in a Material World” exhibit and was set to the 1980s tune of The Vapors’ “Turning Japanese”.

In the music video she is dressed in a sailor-style costume dress with a blue and wavy costume wig, one orange wrist glove, blue gingham thigh high stockings and pink glitter heels. She accessorized the anime style princess costume with a small tiara, magic princess wand, retro beaded costume jewelry, a yellow garter, hot pink belt, frilly pink tutu skirt and was holding a pink parasol in some of the scenes.

If you’d like to give this costume a try, I found a few items within the Totally Costumes store that you could compile to sport your own version of the magical Otaku princess costume.

World meet Nova

February 23, 2010

I am very excited to be posting my very first journal entry on Totally Costumes.

My name is Nova and I will be your host during your visit! You can rely on me to keep you updated with new costume releases, behind-the-scene details on exclusive photo shoots and news on costume events around the world. After all, there is nothing more fun than being dressed in costume with close friends, eating good food and attending a costume party to create experiences you will never forget.

The wonderful thing about costumes is you can enjoy expressing yourself according to the moment’s mood and how you are feeling. Having the opportunity to show the world how you feel day-to-day through costume is the beauty of the cosplay experience. You can express yourself in so many different ways according to energy, feelings and mood. Feeling shy? Add a costume wig to the mix for anonymity. It is fun and brings your costume to a whole other level.

I look forward to sharing my new costume findings with you so that you can have the chance to find new opportunites to express yourself to the world! I have an exclusive photoshoot coming live on the website within the next few days for one of my favorite video game characters. Please check back soon so that you can see the photographs and read behind-the-scene details. Both the photographer and model have a sincere interest in costumes which is visibly obvious when you see the results.

Whether you are looking to venture out as someone else for a day in disguise, attend a costume party or express yourself to the world on your next outing, I will be here to keep you updated with new costume ideas.
